Aurora Solar and R11
Aurora Solar is remote solar design software. A designer builds the system layout, the shade analysis, and the production estimate in Aurora, and that design is what the contract, the permit set, and the install crew are all supposed to be built from.
Where it stops
The design is not finished when it is sold. It changes: a shade correction, a panel count, a swapped inverter, a redesign after the site survey. Aurora holds the current version, but the permit package, the funder submission, and the crew's plan set were all built from whatever version existed when someone last exported it. Nothing tells the office a design moved, so the first sign is usually a rejected permit or a crew on a roof with the wrong plan.
What R11 does with it
- A design change in Aurora reaches R11 as it happens, not on a nightly sync and not when someone remembers to re-export.
- The project's record shows the design it is currently being built from, so the permit set and the funder package are checked against the live design rather than a stale copy.
- When a design changes after a package has already gone out, that becomes a visible hold on the job instead of a surprise at inspection.
Read-only
R11 reads it and writes nothing back, so connecting costs nothing and risks nothing. The delivery work moves onto R11 from there, and the system it came from is left exactly as your team last set it.
Questions
- Does R11 replace Aurora Solar?
- Design belongs in Aurora and stays there. R11 takes the problem Aurora cannot solve on its own: making sure the permit set, the funder package and the crew on the roof are all working from the design as it stands today, not the version somebody exported three weeks ago.
- Can R11 change anything in our Aurora account?
- The Aurora connection reads only. R11 receives what Aurora reports and writes nothing back, so your design system stays exactly as your designers left it. Design is Aurora's job and R11 has no ambitions there.
- How quickly does a design change show up?
- As it happens. R11 is notified by Aurora when a project or design changes rather than polling on a schedule, so a redesign is visible on the job in the office within moments rather than at the next sync.
